Recycling
Recyclables, such as California Redemption Value Containers (CRV) containers newspaper, catalogs, phone books, corrugated cardboard boxes, aluminum and steel cans, glass bottles, and plastic containers (coded with a 1-7 inside a triangle), need to be placed into blue recycling toters.

Place used motor oil in plastic screw top containers and filters in plastic bags and set two feet from blue recycling toters, if historically served by the curbside program. Residents living in apartments may drop off used oil and filters at collection centers – call 525-6700 or (800) CLEANUP for locations. CRV bottles and cans may be taken to a recycling center. Call (800) RECYCLE.

Residential recycling collection occurs every other week. Click here for a colored recycling collection schedule and map. Contact the Ceres Public Works Department –Engineering, 538-5792, if you have any questions. Thank you for recycling!

Leaf and Limb Program
Loose leaves and limbs are collected every other week. Collection of leaves and limbs occurs on the same day as your recycling day. Please refer to the colored collection schedule and map.

NEW
Residents must not set out their leaves and limbs more than seven (7) days prior to their scheduled collection day.

This will allow the street sweeper to clean the streets and gutters between leaf and limb collections. If residents place their leaves and limbs in the street right after their leaf and limb pile is collected, they will not get their gutter and street swept. The street sweeper will go around the piles.

Residential streets will be swept two business days after the leaves and limbs are collected. For a street sweeping map, see the City’s website for a sweeping schedule.

In order for your leaves and limbs to be collected, place leaves and limbs (in length of 4’ or less and no larger than 6” in diameter) on the street, one foot from the gutter in front of your property.

This is not a curbside yard waste program – no grass clippings, weeds, bark, pine cones, etc., in the street. Place grass clippings and weeds in your wastewheeler, not in your blue recycling toter.

Composting
Place leaves and grass in a pile on your property. Add water and turn the pile from time to time. After the leaves and grass have decomposed, the finished compost may be worked into the soil as an amendment. This provides nutrients and helps the soil retain moisture.

Grasscycling
Grasscycling saves time and space in your solid waste container. Simply mow your lawn and let the clippings fall and return nitrogen and other nutrients to your turf. If you mow often there is no need to rake, bag, and place clippings in your wastewheeler or dumpster!

Bulky Item Collection Program (Appliances, furniture, etc.) By appointment 537-1500
Residents can call the garbage company to request the collection of bulky items placed at the curbside. Residents may request up to two collections per calendar year.
