[ARCHIVED] Councilman Couper Condit Resigns From City Council

OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
City of Ceres

Press Release

CERES, CA – Yesterday morning Councilman Couper Condit tendered his resignation from the Ceres City Council effective immediately.

Councilman Condit was elected by the District 4 residents and his term of office was not set to expire until 2024.

I’d like to start off by thanking Councilmember Condit for all his hard work and contributions to the City of Ceres. While his time on the council was brief, much was accomplished. I would like to wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Under state law, the City Council has 60 days following “commencement of the vacancy” to either fill the vacancy by appointment or to call a special election.  In this situation, a person appointed or elected to fill the vacancy will hold office for the unexpired term (November of 2024).

The Ceres City Council will have a discussion about the vacancy at the next Council meeting, Monday, October 25, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. to consider how to proceed with filling the City Council vacancy created by Couper Condit’s resignation.
